Power and The Glory was originally released in the year 1983. It was the fifth album from Saxon and the first one where Nigel Glocker displayed his magic with the drum. The band was already enjoying its success from their previous album, “Denim and Leather,” and they used the same success formula with their new album.
“Power and The Glory” is another addition to their hard-charged, metal albums that breaks down time between thoroughgoing rockers like “This Town Rocks” and “Redline” and the slow but still commanding compositions, “The Eagle Has Landed” and “Nightmare.” The contradictions don’t end there as the title track, “Power and the Glory” is a titanic metal anthem. “Power and the Glory” was released at a time when Saxon was on their way to improving with each and every release. And, this album was another of their multitalented and inspiring heavy metal performance.
The lists of tracks on this music record shop album are among the most popular compilations from the band. “Power and the Glory has one of the most epic solos and choruses that Saxon has ever produced. “Midas Touch” is a magnificent blend of versed ballad and heavy chorus, and “The Eagle Has Landed” is by far the most exceptional example of the band’s discography. It has an odd structure, it begins slow and with some atmospheric playing and by the time Biff begins singing it has already gone on for at least 3 minutes.
Power and The Glory is one of the best albums from the band and it is a genuine classic English metal. A Saxon collection can never be complete without “Power and The Glory,” while at the same time a Music Record Shop heavy metal fan also cannot keep away from it. If you want to appreciate its fullness, make sure you play it at full volume.
